What Will The Maintenance & Safety Manager Do?
Reporting to the General Manager, the Maintenance & Safety Manager will plan, coordinate, and execute maintenance tasks related to the physical plant, equipment, and grounds to ensure a safe working environment, integrity of warehouse equipment, and optimal operational conditions. This person will be responsible for the implementation of procedures and training to meet regulatory requirements. Position will require regular and constructive coordination with all internal departments, and with outside service and supply companies, contractors, and engineers.
Let’s Break It Down
- Direct and Monitor maintenance activities on utility systems to provide uninterrupted supply of refrigeration, electricity, water, HVAC, and internet services required for plant operations.
- Schedule & perform repair, maintenance, inspection and installation of machines, vehicles, tools, and equipment to ensure conformance with safety and operational standards and continuous production operations.
- Ensure security system operation including responding to alarms during off hours.
- Work within department budget to obtain quotes, negotiate contracts and submit purchase order requests for goods and services to optimize delivery and cost savings for security, personnel clothing, pest extermination, snow removal, landscaping, and janitorial services. Inspect billing for such services for accuracy.
- Review of all pertinent documentation including SOPs, training materials, KPI’s, and other compliance related documents to ensure the facility follows its procedures and achieves the expected outcomes.
- Coordinate waste management & recycling program to minimize environmental impact of overall facility waste.
- Operate and maintain the facility spotter truck as needed to move equipment and be responsible for training and certification of other individuals that may operate a spotter vehicle.
- Manage Safety and Health Programs to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and OSHA mandated programs.
- Take ownership of safety processes that will be used throughout NECS, including creating, maintaining, and training on, safety procedures across all departments to ensure required standards are achieved.
- Direct Safety Recognition program and ensure overall conformance with program requirements.
- Maintain master blueprints, maintenance records, machinery and equipment inventories and manuals required for operations.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Fire and Life Safety equipment and OSHA Standards
- Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems
- Minimum of 3+ years of management experience in related field
- Proven ability to conduct analysis, establish programs and measures with specific knowledge in developing and implementing preventative maintenance plans
- Proficiency in MS Office, Excel and Outlook in particular
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- The ability to work collaboratively with coworkers, suppliers, and vendors to positively impact our desired results
- Vaccination for Covid-19 encouraged
- Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screen
Education
- High school diploma, general education degree or equivalent
Work Environment
- Position will require work in cold-storage warehouse where extreme cold is present and wearing of appropriate personal protective equipment is required.
